Life Update: 3 Years of Blogging & Life Changes

1/9/2016

Hello Everyone!
You might be wondering why I'm posting today as opposed to Sunday but that is because today is this blog's 3rd birthday and I feel that today is the appropriate day to announce some life changes as well as some blog changes.
This is going to be a huge, lengthy explanation blog post so brace yourself for a lot of my brain mush.
Picture

Blog's 3rd Birthday

Today marks the third year that this blog has existed; it started as 'Happiness Is A Wonderful  Thing' *MEGA  cringe* , then became 'Nail Art Nut' to tie in with my nail art instagram and now it is 'AbiJBailey' as that is my name *obvs*.

I've been (really, REALLY) slowly working on a new blog on Blogger and as I was transferring over my old blog posts (I mean literally copying and pasting everything manually)  I realised I used to enjoy blogging so much more and have totally lost my way with it recently. I used to blog because I enjoyed it and that was it - I wasn't worried about the perfect lighting or the marble background or whether the content was good enough, or current enough.

Lately it's been stressing me out and I haven't been enjoying it; I'm struggling to think of content  and trying to find time to take photos and actually write the post and then all the social media promo when the post goes live is just taking a toll on me.  I've lost my confidence and motivation  with it.

That's why I haven't posted in the last couple of weeks and also why I've decided to take a break from blogging for a little while, just until my life settles down a bit. I have a lot of changes happening at the moment, and while they are all positive changes, it's taking up a lot of my mind. I don't cope with change very well and I have  3 big changes happening all on top of each other - I feel like I'm constantly on the edge of having a panic attack.

Life Change: Driving Lessons

Recently I've started learning to drive  as I've been meaning to for about a year now and now that I'm coming up to turning 21 I thought it was about time. As I work in the daytime and my driving instructor doesn't do weekends, it means that my lessons happen after work and the lessons themselves last for two hours. They're only once a week but they are quite intense and it's a lot to take in! I've had 3 sessions so far which is 6 hours of lessons.

Life Change:  Leaving my Old Job and Starting a New Job

After a year of searching and applying  and hearing nothing back, I have finally been able to accept a new job.
Some of you may know that I work in Debenhams and have  been very unhappy there for quite a while now - I'm not going to go into all of the details as to why  but if you've ever worked in retail you'll  probably understand!  I was sick of working nearly every  weekend and working  evenings, bank holidays, Christmas ETC- just everything about it was getting me down.
So much has changed since I started there in September 2014 and I'd just had enough really, to the point where I was going to hand my notice in anyway - new job or not.  Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the company and the staff are absolutely wonderful - the best people I have ever met - it was just time for me to move on.

Then out of the blue I received a phone call about a job I had applied for a while back (I'd applied to  hundreds of jobs by this point so I couldn't remember which one it was!)  saying what the job was, that I was exactly what they were looking for  and could I come for an interview the next week? Obviously I said yes as this was the first time I'd actually heard anything back and the job sounded too good to be true.

So I went to the interview on the Tuesday which was just an 'informal chat' with the recruiter (who  was the person I spoke to on the phone and was SUPER lovely) and his colleague and they couldn't have been more complimentary or encouraging. Apparently they had met with five other candidates that morning and they were only putting me and one other forward.

I was put through to the next stage to meet with the girl I would be working with (who is going to be my boss)  and it would be down to her to make a decision between the candidates. I met with her on the Friday in the morning, just one to one, and she was also super lovely.
It all went a bit pear shaped from there as I was told I would find out  that evening but I didn't get a call until Monday from the recruiter to say lots of lovely things about me and that I 'basically had the job' but would get confirmation later that day. Of course that never happened either, and I was basically losing my mind by this point as I had spent all weekend talking myself out of wanting the job and then talking myself back into desperately wanting the job - it was exhausting!

I emailed the recruiter  Tuesday morning saying I just needed to know either way and he replied saying he'd chase it up for me. I had my first driving lesson that afternoon and when I got home I received an email from him  asking me to call him ASAP  with loads of smiley face emojis, of course I rang him and then was told that I'd 'blown everyone out of the water', the girl loved me and that they wanted me for the job! I was over the moon and it was such a relief to finally have an answer and to know that I could hand my notice in and start a new job.

My last day at Debenhams is next Wednesday and it is going to kill me to leave my wonderful Menswear Crew behind *sobs*. I start my new job as a Junior Office Administrator the Wednesday after that. That means no more working weekends, evenings, public holidays etc! The money is so much better and is just generally put me in a much better place.

So that's why I haven't had much time for blogging and why I think it'll do me good to take a break from it, continue to work on my new blog and come back to blogging once I've got settled into a new routine.

Thanks for reading and I'm so sorry if I just bored you rigid with that lengthy blog post!
If you have any questions please leave me a comment, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I'll still be tweeting and instgramming so make sure to follow me on those (links below)

I think that's all I wanted to cover, in short: Blog turns 3 today, blog hiatus, driving lessons and new job.

A huge thank you to everyone who follows me and supports me, you're all  incredible !

Speak to you when I'm back from hiatus

What's In My Hand Luggage?

26/6/2016

Hello everyone!
Happy Sunday!
Did you see last week's post about the June Glossybox? (Here)
On Friday I flew out to Spain with my family so I thought you'd like to see what I crammed into my hand luggage!
As we were travelling as a family, my dad had all of our important documents and passports so I didn't have to worry about that!

Just as an FYI, as I'm on holiday, I'm writing this blog post and next week's post on my phone, so if the layout is a bit different or the photos are huge, that's because I can't change too much! I'll fix them when I'm home.

I bought a new bag for holiday from boohoo. I had my eye on a gorgeous gold one from ASOS but it was constantly out of stock, so I settled for this one instead. The next day the gold one was back in stock! I do like this one though as it looks very nautical, and it comes with a little matching zippy purse too.

This is what I had in my hand luggage (not all pictured as some where thrown in last minute):

- Electricals:
iPhone, iPad, camera, earbuds

- Necessaties:
tissues, hand sanitiser, a pen

- Beauty:
compact mirror, pressed powder, travel powder brush, lippie, nail glue, hair brush, sunglasses

- Edibles:
chewing gum, jelly beans, fruit crumbles

Once we'd got through security and everything I bought more travel snacks and a bottle of water too.

What do you take on the plane with you? Leave me a comment!

Thanks for reading and I'll be back next Sunday with a 'Summer Skincare Essentials' post.

The Liebster Award

2/5/2016

 Hello everyone!
Happy Bank Holiday!

A sneaky surprise blog post today.
The lovely Shalane from DragonFlies & DreamCatchers  (here) nominated me for the 'Liebster Award'.
Picture
Now  if you don't know what the Liebster award is (I'd heard of it but wasn't sure what it was), here's a little info for you:

"The Liebster Award 2016  is an award that exists only on the internet, and is given to bloggers by other bloggers. Liebster in German means  sweetest, kindest, beloved,  etc." source

Basically its a way to give smaller bloggers some exposure (for which I am very grateful!).
The blogger is nominated by another blogger to answer a few questions about themselves that the nominator has chosen and then once you've answered the questions, you create your own questions for your nominees.

Here are my responses:

Favourite Vlogger At The Moment:
I don't  really keep up with vloggers anymore, mainly because I don't have time but I do watch a lot of beauty gurus and my number one at the moment has to be Desi Perkins. I am OBSESSED. She is gorgeous and insanely talented, so I have been loving her make up tutorials lately. Go check her out (here)

Best Blogging Advice Ever Received:
This isn't really blogging advice but it is blog photography advice, Paula from Thirteen Thoughts (here) always stresses how important a light reflector is and so I bought one (for less than £10) on Amazon and I don't know how I ever got on without one. It has HUGELY improved my blog photos and the overall look of my posts.
Another helpful piece of advice that I received is to plan and do  things in advance; I always take my blog photos in advance as getting the right lighting is tricky. Then when I'm ready to write the blog post, I have everything ready to go and I'm not trying to do everything at once. It just takes the pressure off a bit.

Your Ultimate Blog Goal:
I would absolutely LOVE to one day blog professionally  and really make something of this blog.
I'd love  to have a bigger following and create a little community.
To work with a brand like Maybelline or something would also be incredible.

Favourite Beauty Brand:
Ooh such  a difficult question! I think I'd have to say Maybelline as  I think they make the best mascaras  and I've been using their gel eyeliner for around 6 years. I love Maybelline  to bits.

Where Do You Get Ideas For Your Blog Posts?

Lots of places, sometimes I get ideas from other bloggers (but never copy), sometimes I google starting points and it inspires me. Usually I've bought a new beauty product or tool and want to post a review of it.

Ultimate Favourite Dessert:
Basically anything chocolate - chocolate cake, chocolate brownie, you name it!
I'm also a huge fan of sorbet, particularly strawberry or raspberry.
I find sorbet less sickly so I usually pick sorbet if we've gone out to eat!

If money was no option, which 3 beauty products would you buy right now?
- The Tarte Cosmetics 'Tarteist Clay Liner'
- The Too Faced 'Chocolate Bar Palette'
-  Basically anything from Mac - I was given a voucher for Christmas so I'm planning on spending that on the Studio Fix foundation.

You are writing your memoirs. Show us the first paragraph of the first chapter.
Oh wow! Don't even know where to start with this so I'm just going to skip over it! (sowwy)

Name 5 People (Dead or Alive) That You'd Invite To Dinner:
- First person I'd invite in a heartbeat would be my nan. She passed away when I was 9 so I would absolutely love to see her again and have her for dinner! It'd be wonderful.
- Taylor Swift as I love her to bits
- Desi Perkins  for obvious reasons
- Chrisspy (from ChrisspyMakeup on youtube) another of my favourite make up gurus!
- Louise Pentland (and Darcy) from Sprinkle Of Glitter as I think she is wonderful and Darcy is too cute. (Technically two people but Darcy is only little)

What Is Your Most Prized  Possession?

I have some rings that belonged to my nan that I wear everyday which are very important to me.  I also love my iPhone and iPad too.  I'm a very lucky girl when it comes to possessions!

Those are the answers to the questions I was given.

Here are the Rules:
* Thank the blogger that nominated you through your blog or social media
* Answer the questions by the blog that nominated you
* Nominate 5-11 other bloggers (with under 1,000 followers on Instagram)
* Create 11 new questions for the nominees to answer
* Notify all nominees via social media

I nominate:

- Essie from   Essie Loves It
- Sarah from Absolutely Sarah
-  Shannon from  Simply Shannon
- Abbey from    LittleBeautyBlogXO
-  Georgiana from  Georgiana's Beauty Box

Here are your Questions ladies:
1. Top 3 make up products (eg lipstick, eyeshadow etc)
2. What inspired you to start blogging?
3. Favourite instagram account
4. Worst make up mistake
5. Top place you'd like to travel to
6. Favourite lip colour to wear
7.  What is your favourite blog post that you have written?
8. First beauty product you ever bought/used
9. Favourite online shop
10. What's your go-to fancy dress outfit?
11. What have you learned from blogging?

No pressure ladies if you don't want to answer.
Your blogs are fab and  I think more people should know about them!

Thanks for reading and I'll speak to you again soon!

Goals For 2016

31/12/2015

Hello Everyone!
Sorry I've been so absent recently, I've had a lot going on.
It is  New Year's Eve; the end of 2015, so it's only right to set some goals for the upcoming year.
This year has been a tough one for me,  reading back last year's post I had achieved  quite a lot.  This year has just been a  struggle and I'm looking forward to saying goodbye to 2015!

This is going to be a lengthy 'talky' post so if that's not your thing, feel free to skip out on this one and have a browse through my categories! I'm sure you'll find something that's to your liking.
Goals For 2016 | abibailey.co.uk

As you may know if you read my last two New Year's posts (2014/2015), I'm not good at resolutions so I prefer to think of them as 'goals'.

These are my list of goals that I hoped to achieve this year:

1) Learn To Drive
2) Work Hard  (both at work and on myself)
3) Be More Confident
4) Learn To Cook
5) Blog More
6) Do More Nail Art
7) Read More

I'm going to be honest, I've failed nearly all of these goals.

1) I am definitely going to start learning to drive in 2016, I am feeling much more determined and motivated to actually do it this year.

2) I always try to work hard but I haven't worked that hard to better myself this year.

3) I do think I'm more confident though! I think working in a job where  you are constantly talking to new people and to strangers has really helped. Being left in charge, even if it's just while my Supervisor is on break, has helped too.

4)  I haven't really progressed with this one, I bought two little cookbooks earlier this year and I don't think I've looked at them since!

5) I would love to be able to blog ALL THE TIME but I physically do not have the time. I need to start organising myself better and even if I feel really down, try not to let that stop me from blogging as blogging is something I really enjoy.

Although I haven't blogged as much as I would have liked to this year, I do think the quality of my blog posts and photos have improved.

6) Again, I'd love to spend all day doing nail art but I just don't have the time and when I do, I'd rather spend it with my family than sat in my room on my own.

7) As for reading more, I have a book that I've wanted to read for about 15 months and have yet to get to. I read the first 25 pages while on holiday and enjoyed what  little I've read so  I would like to continue it.

So I have not done well this year  with my goals. It's been a really  tough year this year and I've really struggled  so I'm hoping 2016 has more ups than downs!

Goals For 2016 | abibailey.co.uk
Right then, let's get to my goals for 2016, there  are only a few for  this coming year  but they'll be  more achievable this way (I hope).

1) Book driving lessons and start learning to drive
2) Improve my blog
3) Be healthier,  even if it's just cutting out all the extra snacks

I'm currently working on a new blog completely, it's on a different site, it has much better features and I'm really pleased with it. The tricky part is transferring  all my posts to the new site and making it live etc. Hopefully by this time next year you'll be reading my posts on a lovely new site!
I promise it's on its way!

Have you made any goals for the new year? Did you complete any you set for this year?
Leave me a comment!

Have a wonderful new year and thank you for the continued support!
I'll speak to you in 2016.

Thanks for reading,

Building a Gingerbread House

16/12/2015

Hello Everyone!
Little mid-week blog post for you today.
I built  a gingerbread house (from a kit) with my sister.
We bought the kit from Tesco for £4!
Here we go...

Building A Gingerbread House | abibailey.co.uk
Building A Gingerbread House | abibailey.co.uk
Building A Gingerbread House | abibailey.co.uk
Picture
In the kit, you get:
- the building tray
- the walls and roof pieces
- the squeezy icing
- different sweets for decoration

On the back of the box you get easy to follow instructions with pictures too.

Picture
Picture
You squidge a lot of the icing into the grooves in the tray and ice the back sides of the front and back walls and pop them into the tray. After that you slide the smaller walls in between, gently pressing to help them stick.
Picture
Picture
Once you've let the walls set, ice along the top of the front and back walls and gently place the roof pieces on. Hold them in place for a minute to let them adhere and then let the whole house set for half an hour (You could catch up on Big Bang Theory like we did).
Picture
Picture
Once your house has set, you can get to decorating! We mimicked the design on  the box with a few of our own little twists.
Picture
I'm really pleased with how it turned out and it was made much easier with the tray.
It was lovely  to spend time with my sister too.

Have you ever made a gingerbread house?  Have you ever been really brave and  built one from scratch? Leave me a comment!

Thanks for reading,  I'll speak to you soon!

Winchester Christmas Market

13/12/2015

Hello everyone!
Happy Sunday!

On Wednesday afternoon, my mum, my sister and I took the train to Winchester so that we could mooch around the Winchester Christmas Market. Winchester is always lovely anyway and we had a really wonderful day out. Here are a few of the photos I took.
Winchester Christmas Market
Let's start with an OOTD.
OOTD / abibailey.co.uk
OOTD / abibailey.co.uk
My jumper is from New Look and is classed as a 'jumper dress', I wouldn't wear it as a dress because it would be too short on me! It had 25% off when I bought it too.
My jeans are from Sainsbury's.
My boots are old and from Primark, despite the  block heel they are so comfy and because I knew we'd be doing a lot of walking, these were perfect.
My lipstick is Make Up Revolution in the colour "Rebel With A Cause" and is a lovely berry tone.
Picture
Picture
This was the first stall and it was beautiful, filled with scented dried fruit and peel wreathes and decorations.  My mum bought a 'fruit circle' and as lovely as it was, it smelled SO strongly of orange and spices, it got too much!  When we got home we had to put it in the cupboard under the stairs because it was giving us a headache, haha.
Picture
Picture
There were over 100 stalls and there was such a variety.
Picture
These were called "Smoothie Candles"
Picture
Picture
Picture
Picture
There were lots of yummy snack stalls  and I love how traditional they make them look, really makes it feel festive.
Picture
Picture
One stall was filled with festive decorations and that made me feel very Christmassy.
Picture
Picture
This was one of my favourite stalls, it wasn't selling anything but people could leave  notes  about what/who/where makes them happy or what they're thankful for. It's such a lovely idea and the gold really stood out in the sun.
Picture
After we'd seen all there was to see we wandered about the shops and stopped for something to eat becuase we were all freezing by this point and very peckish.
Picture
(excuse the iPhone quality and poor lighting)
We stopped at the West Cornish Pasty Co as we've eaten  there before and the wedges are delish! I also had a sausage roll. It was very tasty and warmed me right up.
Picture
It was getting dark by this point so we got  to see the tree  all lit up as well as the other lights which was magical.
I had such a nice day with my family and it was nice to go somewhere and do something different.

I'm going to my work Christmas meal tonight so my next post will be my OOTN.

Thanks for reading and speak to you soon!

Abi xxx

P.s. Emma, if you're reading, I got your message but because you didn't leave your email I can't reply!  Thank you for the lovely comments and  if you wanted to leave your message as a comment on either this post or another I'd love to be able to reply to you. xxx

Blog Update

6/12/2015

Hello everyone!
Hope you're enjoying your Sunday, leave me a comment telling me if you've been up to anything nice.
Just a quick update today but quite an exciting one!

I  just want to explain why I've been so absent recently and what's to come in the near future.
This is going  to be a really quick talky post so if that's not your thing feel free to browse through one of my categories  in the side bar. There's lots to choose from!

abibailey.co.uk

Firstly, you may have noticed, I now have my own domain! This blog now lives at 'abibailey.co.uk' whereas it used to be abibailey.weebly.com. I feel so much more  professional  now.

Secondly, I've been so absent on here because a) I work in retail and it's nearing Christmas so my hours are INSANE and any spare minutes I get, I spend with my family (or catching up on sleep)  and b) I really haven't had anything to post about! I have a few make up deliveries on the way and a couple of OOTD posts planned along with some festive  bits and pieces too.

Lastly, I'm planning to move blogging sites soon (when I have more than an hour of spare time) so this'll be a much better, more professional blog (but still fun) with better features. I'm so excited!

So I hope that brings you up to speed!
Lots of good things coming to this blog so keep an eye out!

Also don't  forget  to follow me on twitter and bloglovin  so you're in the loop.
Thank you for all the support, it means the world to me <3

Thanks for reading and I'll speak to you soon!

OOTN: Lara Croft fancy Dress Outfit

Hello everyone,
Happy Sunday!
On Friday night I went to a fancy dress party as Lara Croft and  thought I would show you the photos and give you the outfit details.
I had so much fun dressing up as Lara!

Credit to my sister for taking such awesome photos for me.

Obviously  I wasn't going for an exact lookalike, but this is the inspo pic I used.
I only wore a jacket because I'm always cold haha.

Lara Croft Fancy Dress
Jacket: (my sister's , from Sainsbury's)
Vest top:  Primark
Camo jeans: online at Blue Banana
Boots: Primark (old)
Guns/Holsters/Gloves: Amazon
Lipstick: Collection "Queen Of Hearts" (featured in this blog post)
Nail Varnish: MUA "Fever Red" (get the details here)

Lara doesn't wear a lot of make up but I do so I just  touched up my make up from work, put more eyeliner, mascara, blush and lipstick on and I was good to go. Lara always wears her hair in a plait, but I'm not really a fan of plaits on me.

I actually really like this outfit and it was a  nice change to wear something I wouldn't normally.
I'm not sure when I'll get the chance to wear camouflage jeans again but you never know! (Just maybe without the guns next time?)

Did you like my costume? Have you ever dressed up as  Lara Croft?
Leave me a comment!

Thanks for reading, I love you all!

Blog's 2nd Birthday

1/9/2015

Hello everyone!
Sorry I haven't blogged in a while, I've not really been in the right frame of mind.
Today marks the 2nd birthday (anniversary?) of my blog, though, so I just had to post about it!

If you want to read the blog post I wrote about my blog's first birthday last year, you can do so here.
Blog's 2nd birthday
Comparing last year's stats to this year's stats, I've seen a massive improvement which is so lovely and reassuring.
This is last year's:
Blog's 2nd birthday
Blog's 2nd birthday
In my first year of blogging, I accumulated roughly 3.3 thousand unique visitors and roughly 3.6 thousand page views.
Compared to this year's stats:
Blog's 2nd birthday
Blog's 2nd birthday
As of the 1st of September last year, and the 1st of September this year; I've accumulated 4.9 thousand unique visitors and a whopping 17.8 thousand page views!
A lot of those visitors and page views are from people stumbling onto my blog for about two milliseconds and then hopping off again, but I still think that's an improvement, especially with the page views.

As of this moment I have 17 Bloglovin followers and if you'd like to follow me (and I think you should- who'd want to miss out on the possibility of more thrilling statistics?) you can do so by clicking here.

This year I have written 66 blog posts (67 if you include this one) which I think is quite an achievement, considering I haven't been feeling my best these last few months.

Goals for next year of blogging:
- update the look/design of my blog
- improve the quality of my photos
- create a logo/identity for my blog/Nail Art Instagram
- change blogging platforms? (Suggestions would be wonderful- blogger, Wordpress etc)
- write more blog posts to improve my state of mind. Blogging makes me happy.
- continue to improve, with page views and followers and content.

I love that I have a place to talk about beauty and lifestyle and express my passion. I like being able to contribute to the beauty community, too.

Is there anything you'd like to see me post about?
I'd love to do a q & a but I don't think I have the following for that, haha!

Thank you for reading and making this blog what it is. The lovely comments you guys post mean so much to me and they make me so happy.

Holiday Lookbook

Hello Everyone!
I've had a wonderful two  weeks away in Nerja, Spain with my family, but it's so nice to be back blogging!
How have you all been?  Tell me what you've  been up to in the comments!

Today I've put together a post featuring some of my favourite outfits that I wore on holiday and thought it might give you some outfit inspo, as  there's still some summer left to enjoy (glances  out the window and thinks maybe not).

We arrived late Sunday night so this is the outfit I wore on our first full day (Monday). My top is from Primark, my shorts are also from Primark, but I found them in my wardrobe and didn't even know I owned them? and my sandals are from H&M.

I really stepped out of my comfort zone this year as I bought quite a few crop tops (shock horror) . I'm not really a fan of my stomach (it's podgier than I'd like) but paired with high waisted bottoms, I really liked how the outfits turned out!

I bought the orange sandals and an identical pair in white and they were £13 each so I thought £26 for two pairs of sandals was a really good price to pay but when I got to the till, they must have been in a deal as they only came to £14! I was  thrilled!

This is the outfit I wore on out first night out. My dress is from Primark and has little butterflies on it and I really love the neckline as it really dolls up the dress.
My  wedges are from New Look and I love them so very dearly; not only are they so beautiful with all the little diamantés but they're also so comfy and easy to walk in - a rarity in shoes with height!

I  wore this playsuit one evening, when we had dinner at one of the restaurants along the beach.
I wasn't overly thrilled with it when I first bought it as I didn't think the neckline was very flattering but once I wore it out, I realised it was much nicer than I thought. I really like the cutout at the back and it was so comfy too.
The playsuit is from Primark and the sandals are from H&M.

We went to the beach one day so I wore my Figleaves swimsuit with my high waisted denim  shorts from Primark, a white t-shirt (not pictured) and my white H&M sandals.
I really like the pop of coral in the swimsuit as it adds more shape and definition - a definite bonus for busty ladies like me!

This is one of my favourite outfits, despite the simplicity.
I think the blouse and shorts are so pretty; I like the fitted shape of the blouse and the little pom pom detailing on the hem of the shorts.
My blouse is from Primark a few years ago, my shorts are from Primark recently and my sandals are from H&M.
Holiday Lookbook
(This is not the most flattering photo- ick) We visited Frigiliana (a pretty town not too far from where we were staying) one day and I wore a crop top from New Look (which was in the sale!), my high waisted denim shorts from Primark and my orange H&M sandals paired with orange lipstick for a pop of colour.

Holiday Lookbook
On one of our last nights in Nerja, there was a festival starting up in the town, so we went along to watch the fireworks and grab some dinner. I wore this playsuit that I bought from Debenhams a couple of years ago. It's such a flattering shape and I love the floral pattern and the little details like the buttons and the collar. I wore it with my jewelled wedges from New Look.

Holiday Lookbook
One night I wore this playsuit from BooHoo. I like the aztec print and the tie front and the V-neck is very flattering. I wore it with tan heels from New Look. You can't really see from the photo but they're platform with a wooden heel- I feel like they'll go with lots of outfits.

There's a little insight in to some of the outfits I wore while away.
What was your favourite outfit?

As always, thanks for reading and I'll speak to you soon,

So that is the rest of my photos from my trip to Marwell Zoo!
In all honesty, I could have probably put them all into one blog post but I thought that might be a bit too overwhelming and possibly boring.

We were so lucky to have such lovely weather on the day, and I'm so pleased with my new camera!

Have you ever been to Marwell Zoo? Let me know.

Thanks for reading,
I'll speak to you on Sunday!

A Trip To Marwell Zoo | Part 1

7/6/2015

Hello everyone!
Happy Sunday!

That was a short hiatus, wasn't it?
I think the plan will be to only post when I have something I'm happy to blog about, because otherwise I feel like I have to blog and then I'm just blogging about rubbish for the sake of it. I'm starting to feel a bit better so I'm going to try to stick to posting every Sunday, as usual, but I might hold off on posting on Fridays for a little while. I hope that's ok with you?

Anyway, onto the blog post!
(If you're reading this via the Bloglovin app and the quality of the photos is rubbish, click 'view original post' under the title)
It worked out that I had Wednesday and Thursday off from work last week and as my sister had finished her AS exams, she was home too so my dad took some time off of work (my mum doesn't work) and we planned a couple of days out. I have recently bought a new camera so this was the perfect opportunity to have a play with it and take some photos. On the Wednesday we went to lunch in Newbury (blog post to follow at some point) and on Thursday, as the weather was supposed to be nicer, we went to Marwell Zoo.
Two perfect family days were exactly what I needed.
Today I thought I'd share with you my photos!
I took quite a few so I'm going to split this post in two; part 1 today, part 2 tomorrow.

No 'day out' post is complete without an OOTD!
Top, cut-off jeans and shoes are all from Primark a couple of years ago (sorry) and my anklet is from
ASOS recently. I'm so obsessed with it, it's so cute and only £6!

Pop back tomorrow for part 2 to see my photos of the Giraffes, Zebras and Meerkats!

Thanks for reading and sticking by me,

I'll see you back here tomorrow!

Starting A Blog? | Tips & Advice

3/5/2015

Hello Everyone!
Happy Sunday to you!
I had to work today (boo), I have tomorrow off though (woo!)

Today I thought I'd share with you my thoughts, tips and advice for starting a blog.
Maybe it's something you've been thinking about but don't know where to start.
That's why I'm here to help!
Starting a blog? Tips & advice
Anyone can blog.
If you're passionate about something, you can blog about it.
My first bit of advice is to research all the different blogging platforms, e.g. Weebly, Blogger, Wordpress, and see what they have to offer and what you're looking for.

I use Weebly, which I really like and think is perfect for beginners, but I've been blogging for a year and a half now and there are features I want that Weebly just doesn't offer. Things like 'related content' widgets and things that would really improve my blog and make it more user friendly. At some point I'll probably look into changing platforms unless Weebly up their game *cough* hint hint Weebly *cough*.

Plan ahead.
Blogging is so much easier if you've planned ahead. You don't even need a detailed plan, just jot down a few ideas that you could write confidently about so that when it comes to actually writing and posting, you're not sat there staring blankly at a screen.
Maybe set a schedule for when you want to post, I do my 5 Things Friday mini post on Fridays and my regular blog post on Sundays. That way, I know when I need to have an idea by, and when to have the photos sorted. It also means your readers know when to return to read more of your fabulous content!

Don't try to do everything on the day.
Unless you have endless amounts of free time. Like I said, plan ahead and then take a day to take photos for that blog post. Then find time to pick your best photos and edit them if you feel like it. That way when it comes to putting the post together, you've only got to write it and drop in the photos. I work 30 hours a week so this makes blogging much more manageable.

Use photos.
Photos break up a lot of text and make everything look pretty. It also means you can post a select photo or two to post to Instagram and Twitter etc.
Make your photos large. No one wants to have to squint at a tiny photo.

Write about what makes you happy.
Make sure you're writing for yourself, that way you'll look forward to blogging and feel more proud of what you've written. There's a niche for everything, so no matter what you write about, you'll find your audience.
Blogging should be fun, after all.

Don't do it just to be popular.
Sure it'd be nice to have a huge following and be the next Zoella, but that shouldn't be why you start a blog. There's no guarantee that you'll soar to the top (although there's nothing stopping you either!).
Do it to make yourself proud and to get what you set out to achieve.  For me, it was to boost my confidence, and find myself again. I'd had a rough year and decided that it was time to do something very different to bring me out of my shell.

Join lots of social networks.
The more social networks you're with, the more exposure your blog can get.
Once I've posted my blog post, I tweet about it, Instagram it, Pin it (all linked at the top of my blog!) and even post it on my tumblr. I'm also on bloglovin which I love, because you can see everyone you follow's latest blog posts in one place, rather than having to go to their individual blogs. I seriously suggest joining it.

If you'd like, you can follow me on bloglovin here.

I have a Facebook but I don't post on there purely because I don't want to plague my family with it, and I'm friends with lots of people from school and work, most of whom I just don't want to know about this blog!
Certain 'friends' left nasty comments as 'a joke' when I started out, and I just don't want to encourage that sort of behaviour!

Lastly, just DO IT.
Just join a blogging platform and start tapping away.
No one's first few posts are good. That's not to say they're bad, just that you're still working on your style and finding out how to do this blogging thing.
You improve with practice, as you would with anything.
Also, you won't be proud of everything you write. I have a handful of posts that I hate but then I have lots of posts that I worked really hard on and am really proud of.
Just have fun.

Where these tips useful?
Leave me a comment!

Thanks for reading, don't forget that the survey is still in the sidebar of my blog!

Speak to you on Friday,

Payday Haul

1/3/2015

Hello everyone! And hello March!
Happy Sunday to you.
The last Friday of every month is the day that I get paid and luckily, this time, I had the day off. A perfect excuse to do some shopping!
So I went shopping with my Mumma and treated her to lunch, it was one of the nicest days I have had in a very long time.
I bought quite a bit so I thought you'd be interested in seeing it!
Picture
In total, I bought:
- 2 tops from New Look
- A handbag from TKMaxx
- A purse from TKMaxx
- A photo frame from TKMaxx
- 2 Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine nail varnishes from Superdrug
- Argan Oil from Superdrug
- Elegant Touch Brush On Nail Glue from Superdrug
Picture
Picture
I bought the Argan Oil (£4.49) because I've heard lots of good things about it and wanted to try it for myself and see what the hype is about.
I'm into acrylic/fake nails at the moment so a constant supply of nail glue is a must! (£3.09)
As a nail varnish junkie and a lover of the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints, I bought 'Papaya' and 'Fondant'. Perfect colours for spring. (£3.99 each but there's a two for £7 deal on at the moment)
Picture
Picture
As you may know, I'm in the process of updating my bedroom. I have a few photo frames but they're all quite old now, or not what I've chosen or are the wrong colour etc. This one is quite little so it's suitable for  smaller photos or even little Polaroids. It was £12.99.
Picture
The purse was £9.99 and the bag was £24.99
Picture
The purse is a lovely pink colour and has 12 card slots (4 at the front and 8 along the top), 3 zippy pockets, and 3 sections for notes and vouchers so it has lots of space which is fab because I can't stand tiny purses or bags- I have a lot of junk.
Picture
Picture
The bag is a shell/cream colour with black piping and gold zips. It has two zips at the front and one at the back and it comes with an adjustable shoulder strap too which is handy as the little handles are a bit too small to hang the bag from your shoulder.
Inside it has two zippy pockets and two pockets for things like your phone and your keys, the main pocket itself is quite spacious too, again, perfect for all of my junk.
Picture
The blue shirt was £19.99 and the white blouse was £22.99.
Picture
The shirt is navy blue with a white grid, check design. It buttons up and has 3/4 buttoned up sleeves which you can unbutton to make longer.  It's a casual loose fitting style and is longer at the back so it covers your bum nicely, so it'd be perfect to wear with leggings or skinny jeans and boots.
Picture
The blouse is a bit sheer so you'd have to wear a white bra underneath (obviously) or a little camisole.
This top is so delicate, feminine and pretty. It's got lace detailing on the shoulders, round the wrists and round the waist. It has pretty detailing on the chest and down from the shoulders.
It buttons up at the back but you don't need to undo them to put it on, I just slipped it over my head. This would look cute tucked into a skirt or with jeans and heels for evening, or flats or boots for more casual wear.

I had a lovely lunch with my Mumma in a cafe we often go to in our town centre called Cafe Giardino. It's one of our faves as the people are so friendly and the food is delicious!

Well that was a lengthy post!
I think it's nice to treat yourself sometimes, especially if you'd been feeling a bit crumby like I had!
Have you treated yourself to anything recently? Or is there anything I need to get my hands on? Let me know!

Thanks for reading and I'll speak to you soon,

Hello Everyone!
Midweek blog post for you! I went to my work party Sunday night (I know, weird night to have a party on) and decided to share with you my outfit and make up details. Apparently I thought it'd be a good idea to attempt to get high quality photos in terrible lighting as I was running out the door. My usual.
I had a really fun time and it was such a good turn out! It was lovely to see my work friends outside of work too.
Picture
Picture

The Outfit

The Accessories

Dress - New Look in the sale for £12!
I liked that it had 3/4 sleeves and went down to my knees, I thought that made it more appropriate for a work event and added a bit of maturity.
Shoes - Primark last year for £14
Picture
Picture
Picture
Watch - Sainsbury's, last October, £25
Gold cuff - Primark, £5
Rings - Primark, £3 (I'm guessing, I can't remember, they came in a set)
Rings on my watch arm - they were my Nan's ❤️
I also have a necklace on from Accessorize, which was a Christmas present from my friend
Nail Varnish - New York Colour, 'Greenwich Village'
Perfume - Anaïs Anaïs

The Make Up

Picture
Picture
Picture
Eyebrows - Rimmel 'Professional Eyebrow Pencil' in 'Dark Brown' (not pictured because I'm stupid)
Eyeshadows - Urban Decay Naked Palette, I used 'Smog' all over the lid and the blended 'Dark Horse' into the crease, then put a little bit of 'Half Baked' as an inner highlight. I also blended 'Dark Horse' under my lowerlash line.
Eyeliner - Maybelline 'Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner'
Mascaras - Urban Decay 'Perversion', Maybelline 'Lash Sensational' (bought this recently- LOVE it) and Rimmel 'Lash Accelerated Endless'
Primer - Rimmel 'Fix & Perfect Pro' in '002'
Concealer - L'Oréal 'True Match' in '4 Beige'
Foundation - Rimmel 'Lasting Finish 25H' in '100 Ivory'
Powder - Rimmel 'Match Perfection' in '103 True Ivory'
I don't normally wear that much face make up! But I was going out and knew it was going to be hot in the party and I wanted it to last.

Sorry for the horrendous close up - yeeash!

Hope you enjoyed that little snippet, I'd like to do more OOTDs and FOTDs in the future!

Thanks for reading, don't forget my social networks are at the top!

Goals For 2015

4/1/2015

Hello everyone!
I hope you all had a good New Years!
Today I want to talk about my goals for 2015, because, as we all know, I don't 'do' resolutions.
I have high hopes for this year. I feel like it's going to be a good'n.
Picture
Source
1) Learn To Drive
This is a goal I have carried over from last year, I've always wanted to learn to drive, I just never had the money or really the need to do it. Now that I earn my own money and go to work everyday, not only can I pay for the lessons, but it'd be excellent for me to be able to drive myself to and from work, rather than burden my parents (although they insist it isn't a burden) or rely on unreliable busses.

2) Work Hard
Not only do I want to continue to work hard at work, but I want to work hard on myself too, as I said in my last blog post, this year is going to be a 'me' year, so I'm going to strive to make myself a better person, and reach a standard I'd be happy with.

3) Be More Confident
I'm not a confident person, I'm very shy. I always assume that I'll do something stupid or mess it up so I end up having no self belief that I won't mess it up. I'm not a stupid person, I'm very capable and have a lot of common sense so there is no reason for me to have that little self belief, so this year I'm going to start pretending to be more confident, until I no longer need to pretend.

4) Learn To Cook
This ties in nicely with the 'be a better version of myself' thing. I'd love to be more independent and also it's a very valuable skill to have. I'd also like to help my mum out more, even if it's just by cooking dinner once a week. Plus food is ace and I'd like to eat more of it.

5) Blog More
I love blogging and I'm really glad I created this Nail Art Nut, so I'd love to do more blog posts, it's just finding the time to take photos in decent lighting or plan out what I want to blog about... I'm slowly getting there.

6) Do More Nail Art
I feel like I've been neglecting nail art recently and that makes me sad because I LOVE nail art and it's the whole reason I started this blog in the first place so I will definitely find time to do more of it.

7) Read More
I always forget how much I love reading and getting lost in a story. I've had a new book since my birthday (which was three months ago. Oops) and I'm yet to even open it, despite wanting to read it for ages even before my birthday. So I'd like to get that read this year.

So those are my goals for this year. Basically I want to do more of what makes me happy, because I feel like I spend so much time worrying about others that I forget to make time for myself.

Have you made any goals for this year! Let me know!

Thanks for reading, all my social networks are linked at the top, and I'll speak to you soon!

A Year In Review...

28/12/2014

Hello everyone!
This is the last blog post of the year, can you believe 2014 is nearly over?
What a year it's been, thinking back, a lot happened.
I went to a lot of parties, met a lot of new people and finished college despite hating it with every fibre of my being. I nearly worked for Visa, I fretted about the decision not to go to uni, I got the job at Debenhams and really enjoy it. I made new friends, I became more independent and now I earn my own money, and I think most importantly, I really developed as a person.
It's been a very developmental year. I learnt to trust my judgement and that sometimes, being a little bit stubborn works in your favour and I learnt that following the masses isn't necessary to be happy.

As you know, I don't do resolutions, I do 'Goals'. These were my goals for 2014:
1) 'Get a Job' check.
2) 'Learn to Drive' haven't completed that one but I'm working on it and it'll be added to next year's goals
3) 'Try Harder at College' well I completed college with semi decent results, so I'm going to say that's a goal completed.
4) 'Take More Photos' I think I've achieved this, purely for the sake of this blog. I like taking photos.
5) 'Be Less Judgemental' it's easy to make a snap judgement about someone- we all do it- but sometimes a person is having a bad day and makes a bad impression. Try not to judge someone until you get to know them, we all have 'off' days. I like to think I've been a bit more compassionate this year.
6) 'Try More Things' as someone who isn't a fan of change, saying 'no' or backing out comes quite easy to me, but I've tried to shake that mentality and become a bit braver. Even if it just means looking confident even though you're shaking inside. You'll start to feel more confident.

I know everyone hates the phrase "New Year, New Me" because 'you can make a change any time of the year' but a new year is a good time to make a change. It's a completely fresh start, filled with new months and new challenges and adventures. It's a clean slate.

I'm going to try and make 2015 a 'me' year. I don't mean be more selfish, I just mean I need to do more things that make me happy and get to a place where I'm really happy with who I am, both inside and out.
I feel like 2015 will be a good year, I have a lot of faith in it.

Do you have any goals for 2015? Was 2014 good to you?

Happy New Year!

5/1/2014

Hello Everyone!
Happy New Year! I can't believe it's 2014 already, I'm so pleased that 2013 is over and done with because it was a horrible year and I'm glad to see it come to a close. I'm doing everything in my power to make this year a good year and I have a couple of nice things lined up already, what with two of my best friends turning 18 in the same week this month, so there'll be lots of celebrations and on the 10th of February I am seeing my all time favourite TAYLOR SWIFT in concert and I am soooooo excited about that! But yes on to my point...

Do you make New Years resolutions? because I don't, purely because I never stick to them. When I was younger it was always things like "stop biting my nails" or "eat healthier" etc and within a week I had broken them. Instead I make Goals, which I find much more achievable and less daunting. Last year my goals were 1) Write a CV, 2) Get a job, 3) Get slim and 4) Jazz up my room. Well I think I did quite well considering I wrote a CV, applied to loads of jobs (with no such luck sadly but I did have my first job interview which was a group interview so I felt I missed out a bit because I'm quite shy). I did slim down a bit but I didn't really do anything towards that I was just chunky in the summer and when the new college term rolled around I slimmed down because I didn't have time to just sit around and comfort eat and I was up and down, to and from the bus stop and college so all the walking must have done something. I also jazzed up my room if only by changing my two pink walls to cream and adding a few accessories, but my bedroom is my favourite room (purely because it's mine) so I am pleased with it.
This year I have made new goals and the list is a bit longer so I'm hoping I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. Here are my goals for 2014:
1) Get a job - I want to be more self reliant and feel less pathetic, to be honest
2) Learn to drive - A skill that is useful, that I really want and again to feel like less of a rubbish teenager
3) Try harder at college - I only have five months left so I want to do the best I can and feel proud of myself and feel like I have bounced back from last year.
4) Take more photos - I love looking through photos and I'm trying to create a photo wall in my room so I want to capture more of my friends and family and gigs and things I like and pretty things etc (I know I'm rambling)
5) Be less judgemental - I feel I make snap judgements or just dislike someone purely because my friend does and I really don't like that character about me. I'm not like that; I like giving people a chance.
6) Try more things - I am a total scaredy cat. I know what I like and I stick to it (especially with food as I have a HUGE phobia of vomit) and I often say no to things and I don't want to any more. I'm eighteen and I need to grow up.

So those are my goals for 2014. Hopefully they will make this year nice and happy because I'm not going through another year like 2013, nu uh, no way. I'd love to hear about your goals for this year (or what yours were for last year) so pleeeeeeease leave me a comment? It would make my day!

So once again HAPPY NEW YEAR! and I shall speak to you next week!

Firstly, welcome to my blog,

To put it bluntly, I've had a really crap time recently (past 3 months to be specific) but I won't bring you down with boring details about that. I thought as it is the first of September, the start of a new month and a new season (my favourite season) it would be the perfect time to bounce back and have a fresh outlook on life and hopefully a much happier next 3 months.
Right so what is this blog going to be about? well I thought I would tailor it around a nail art/ beauty/ lifestyle blog, somewhere I can share my creativity, beauty finds and just generally where I can vent!

So I think that does it for today as this is my first ever blog post
